We woke up and ate an early breakfast, so we could locate the spot that we had tried to find earlier. We slowly wandered down the hill stopping to compare the book to the view in front of us. Eventually, we came to a spot where the lake water, mountains, and hillside all fell into place. We had found it!
It seems as if every time we find the place, it sends chills up my spine. We walked down to the road where my Mom picked us up and we drove into the super tiny town of Twin Lakes. About ten buildings made up the entire town. Very, very small town. We went into a store to try and get some more info on the Mount of the Holy Cross, (our next destination) and got a map. The store owner told us the location of a mining museum and ranger station that might help us. We drove to mining museum and ranger station, neither really helped much, but they gave us an address for another ranger station closer to the Mount of the Holy Cross that might help. We would visit there tomorrow, so we headed back to our cabin. We wrote some in our journals and built some rock stacks.
We watched as some chipmunks and a rabbit run around out cabin. When the sun began to fall we all went out to watch the sunset. The colors were so bright and beautiful. I was so glad that the Twin Lakes had been so well preserved, for they were so scenic and calm. We walked back to the cabin and under the fading glow of the golden aspens, and watched some more chipmunks scamper by.
We saw the last light of the sun before it completely disappeared behind the mountains and slept pleasant dreams.
