Today we would be searching for the vantage point from the book of The Twin Lakes! After breakfast, we headed out and we went down a steep hill in front of our cabin, avoiding the cactus plants.

Our mom decided to drive down to the road to meet us at the lake down below, so only my dad, Elias and I remained to find the spot. We walked down the hill slowly checking at every few feet. Finally, we thought we had found it. It was really pretty because all of the patches of golden aspen on the mountain, and the scenery reflected like a mirror on the still lake.

We headed down the hillside a bit more and ended up on another small hill that looked over the lake. THIS WAS IT!!! We had found just the right spot! It was amazing – this was definitely it! We made a rock stack to mark the spot and continued hiking down to the road to meet our mom who was on this little peninsula overlooking the lake.

When we hiked over to the lake we walked down to the shore. The water was SO clear! We tried catching little fish in schools that were swimming around. I caught one small one but let him go right after I caught him. We headed up onto a large hill and looked out over the lake – it was a little windy up there but not enough to push me down lol! We headed up further and made a rock stack before going to the car. We decided to check out this small town behind the lake, called Twin Lakes. I finished a postcard to my friend Parker there and we headed back to the cabin to have lunch. After lunch we did some school work and made some rock stacks. I made a lot of them – it was like a little city!

We looked out behind our cabin and we found a lot of chipmunks running around in the back near a small playground. We played there for a little but then went on a small hike after we had set the charcoal grill for dinner. We went to the side of the hill to see the sunset. It was amazing! The clouds were filled with life and color.

We time-lapsed it! We headed back to the cabin and grilled some chicken and steak! We had that with some potatoes and asparagus. We were pretty tired so we went to bed. I felt really good but I missed home and my friends. But I was still happy to be here, too.
