Today we start our drive out to Virginia! As our first stop we would be going to Natural Tunnel State Park. We loaded into the car and were going to be it the tunnel in about a two hour drive. UGH. Driving is the part I don’t like. Long and boring, (with exceptions of good views and all) Finally we got to the tunnel. Odd, a ski lift went down a steep hill on our right. Weird… When we found a place to park we stopped to see a small train. Their was a platform that walked into it, of course, we went in to check it out.

It was a real train all right, still had coal and brakes. We headed out of the train after looking around and went over to the ski lift. We decided to go on it before going to the campsite. Elias and I rode in one and Daddy took pictures from the one behind.

When we got to the bottom we jumped off and BAM. The tunnel was HUGE. Gigantic amazing mind blowing THING in front of us. WOW. We walked up close to it on a boardwalk and looked inside.

One of the perspectives was easy. The other, not so much. The other one was in the tunnel where you couldn’t go. Plus it was getting dark so we had to go and set up camp. We jumped back onto the ski lift, knowing that the next day we would be able to get more information about it. We got in the car and went to the campsite, unloaded our stuff, set up the tent and set a fire. Soon enough the fire was nice and warm after scavenging for sticks and limbs. We were going to have sausages that night so we put them into the pan  over the fire. I set up my chair and slumped into it. Nice and warm, I ate my sausage. My brother called doing the “dishes” which is super easy because you just throw paper plates into the fire. Ready for bed, I warmed up my entire body then ran and jumped into my sleeping bag with a hat on. It was cold, and I mean COLD. My dad told me that if I put my blanket into my sleeping bag it would help to keep me warm, but, I ignored him because my whole body was tired and not listening. Thats why I was cold. I woke up frozen and decided that I probably should put my blanket inside my sleeping bag. So, I did and slept much warmer the rest of the night….aahhhhh.
