Connie Rigdon
Website: connierigdon
Medium: mixed media, acrylic

Connie Rigdon is a contemporary abstract artist, continuously honing her skills in abstract expressionism. Her work is fueled by the environment around her. The juxtaposition between manmade and nature is a constant and she expresses what is seemingly chaotic in our natural environment and our human nature’s need to find order through a method of pure intuition.
You will find that there are two lines of work that show up in her repertoire. One, her abstractexpressionist work and the other, abstracted landscapes which are inspired through her travels and memories of place.
Connie’s evolution from architecture to abstraction was inevitable in that her architectural designs were always inspired by the environment in which the same juxtaposition occurred. Her training as an architect and designer has taken her love of the art of architecture and her years of problem-solving skills into her contemporary work bringing about a perfect union of her two passions.
Connie received a M. Arch and had an architectural practice prior to becoming a full-time artist. She has had group shows in the Midwest and the East Coast and won several awards. She currently works and lives in Charleston SC.
Artist Statement:
“The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Aristotle…My aim is to express my experience of a place, time or feeling of the moment: to connect that experience with the viewer. When that connection is made, I have succeeded in my work.
