After living all her life in Nebraska, she and her husband, Dave, moved to Simpsonville, SC in 2009. The low country marshes, Charleston street scenes and gorgeous houses and gardens have been very inspiring to her since her move here, as well as the mountains in the upcountry and North Carolina.
Her studio is located in a 150 year old house in Greenville, SC. where she makes the 25 minute drive daily to work on paintings from photos and plein air pieces that were done while visiting Charleston or the mountains. Her work can be seen at Reinert Fine Art Gallery in Charleston and Crown Gallery in Blowing Rock, NC.
Artist Statement
Growing up on the prairie in Nebraska, I find that I have a connection to the low country marshes where the view of the sky and horizon is unobstructed by buildings or large trees. The humidity brings luminous hazy light that I find endlessly inspiring. My love for God’s incredibly beautiful creation drives my desire to try to capture it in paint on canvas.
I make the three hour drive to Charleston regularly to deliver paintings to the gallery and then spend the rest of the day gathering inspiration for paintings in my studio. Other days, I’m exploring the mountains. I can’t imagine anything I would rather do, I am blessed.
