We woke the next morning and drove out to Echo Canyon! Today we were going to look for The Witch Rocks, Devils Gate, and Devils Slide. The first place we got to was The Witches. We saw them, but we did not know how to get up on a large hill that had a fence. That was a disappointment so we decided to wait until later to explore those and try to find Devils Slide. We ended up finding it, but it was in the middle of the highway so we could not get the precise angle.
Darn, I really had hoped that it wasn’t in a place like this, but, it was still and amazing sight to see. We left Devils Slide and headed to fine Devils Gate. We sort of found it after driving a while. This was another disappointment. It ended up that the road headed straight through it. We passed it several times wondering where it was. Finally we realized that we were going in and out of it without even knowing it. We were getting a bit hungry. A little disappointed we headed to Taggert’s grill, a restaurant nearby. After some good food, we headed out back to The Witches. We parked at the edge of the road and climbed over the fence. (with permission) We walked up to them; with the sun setting, it sent colors across the sky. Red and orange streaks flooded the sky. From a distance it looked like they were fairly small, but when we walked up the steep hill to reach them, we realized that they were ENORMOUS!

They amazed me, they were made of river rocks carefully placed together and stuck together like concrete. It was so amazing! We walked all around fascinated by the rock formations. We ended up not finding the exact angle that the artist drew it because they had changed so much in 140 years with erosion.

It was still fun because we also named each rock! The train the Chicken leg, the upside-down pants, the frog king, the cookie jar, the ice-cream cone, Deltec, and mushroom. It was amazing and I felt really good to have seen something this cool. On the way back down on the hill we saw animal bones and cactuses. We headed back down to the car happy and tired.
