Medium: Oil and pastel

Christine is an artist working in Asheville, NC. She paints landscapes in oils and pastels, working in the studio or on location, en plein air. Her style can be described as loose realism, as she is focused not only on accurate representation with painterly flair but with vibrant color interpretation as well.
Born and raised in Jackson MS, she learned art skills early on as the daughter of a very talented artist mother who taught drawing classes. After pursuing her degree in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and some traveling around the country, she was drawn to the mountains of western North Carolina. She got involved in outdoor activities like whitewater kayaking, hiking, and camping, and came to appreciate the area from the macro (landscape views) to the micro (bugs and mushrooms). These activities have given her an acute appreciation of the beauty of the area, which she attempts to capture and share in her art.
Christine creates from a home studio now, after many years in the River Arts District. She is a co-founder of the fine art fundraising group The Saints of Paint, who collaborate with non-profits to produce high-quality juried shows that benefit both the artists in the shows and the work of the non-profits.
