It’s time to get away and use our artistic energy to preserve our amazing natural landscape.

WNC Fall P.A.P.A. Artist Retreat

The PAPA group has been all over America seeking the places that the original adventure artist captured in the 1800s. Now, this Fall they are returning to the chapter from Picturesque America that inspired the entire project. Back to the French Broad to locate, capture and promote the conservation of this amazing place.

Remember, we are working to recreate the original locations and publish updated chapters of how the vantage points look 146 years later. We need contributors to the revised edition and there will be an exhibition of the unique artistic voices of Western North Carolina.

So grab your art supplies, notebook and hiking boots because you are invited to join us to enjoy a weekend of artistic exploration, re-discovery and fellowship. Artist, poets, photographers and any souls with the desire to renew their spirit and share their gifts, are welcome!

The P.A.P.A. founder Scott “Doc” Varn will be leading the retreat where we will find the special places along the French Broad River based on art from the 1800s. As creative lovers of the natural world you will have the opportunity to find out how the early adventure artists shaped the conservation movement and what can be done TODAY to continue their legacy.

There is no cost except your own food and accommodations. Donations are welcome to our organization but not required. We have reserving camp sites in Hot Springs NC, so contact us soon to reserve your spot. There are lots of other accommodations, B&Bs, etc close by if tenting it is not your thing.
